Competitive Swimming Performance Award
Swimmers can earn Competitive Swimming Performance Awards as they achieve particular times in the various strokes over various distances at galas and time trials and in doing so collect an impressive array of badges and flashes to sew onto their t-bag shirts.
The CSPAs are allocated at four levels bronze, silver, gold and platinum over two distance categories, sprint and middle distance. The sprint encompasses 25m 50m100m and the 4 X 25m IM, and the middle distance covers 200m and 400m swims. The times to be achieved in each stroke are laid down by the ASA and are given in the attached file.
On achieving one of the times listed under the Sprint Distance or Middle Distance headings the swimmer is awarded with the corresponding Award badge, Certificate and a flash badge for the stroke in which the time was achieved ie for swimming 25m backstroke in 23.50 a round Bronze sprint badge together with a Certificate and Backstroke flash is awarded. He or she then goes on to collect the other Bronze stroke flashes by achieving one of the times listed for each stroke for that Award/Distance. Not all strokes have to be swum over the same distance and once a stroke flash is awarded for one of the sprint distances if a different sprint distance time is achieved for the same stroke a further stroke flash is not applicable. Each round Award Badge and Certificate costs only £4 and each stroke flash just 50p, to apply for your Award please write your name, the event(s), time acheived and place where swum on an envelope and give it to Lorraine Eamer together with the fee. Awards are issued by Jill Chadwick who will pass them back to Lorraine for you to collect.
